Laverne H Siemen

LAVERNE H. SIEMEN, age 88 of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Lakeview Extended Care & Rehabilitation Center in Harbor Beach. He was born on February 25, 1923 in Harbor Beach to the late William and Anna (Geiger) Siemen. Laverne and Bertha Connors were united in marriage on July 19, 1947 in Harbor Beach. She preceded him in death April 25, 1995. Laverne is a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II in Europe as a tank driver, a retired Sand Beach Township farmer and a retired employee of Active Industries in Elkton, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach where he was a Lay Minister, assisting in all aspects of the church ministry as well as an Usher. Laverne enjoyed being with his family, playing Euchre, bicycling, and the family dog, Emmy. He is survived by his children, Nonna Hurren and her friend Dean Dies of Oklahoma City, OK, Judith Edmonds and her husband Edward of Harbor Beach, Patrick Siemen and his wife Mari of Caseville, John Siemen and his wife Penny of Harbor Beach, Barbara Mosey and her husband Michael of Harbor Beach, and Michael Siemen of Kinde; 3 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Siemen of Harbor Beach and Virgie Kriete of Harbor Beach and Mabel Siemen of Coopersville; 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Laverne was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Siemen, and by his brothers, Sylvester, Raymond, Allen, Marcus, and Clement Siemen, and by his sisters, Lillian Essenmacher, his twin sister Alma Woyciechowski, Doreen Hagedon and Mildred Siemen. Funeral Mass for Laverne will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach, with Fr. Bill Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Laverne will be Thursday, from 1-9pm in the Ramsey Funeral Home and on Friday in the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. A Parish Vigil Service will be held Thursday at 7pm and a K of C Rosary at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School.
