Margaret Swenson

Margaret Swenson, formerly of Clinton Township, MI passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 at Turning Brook Assisted Living Facility in Alpena, MI. Margaret was born November 26 in Ruth, Michigan to Robert and Mary (Hessling) Braun. In May of 1943, she married Sgt. Louis Molloy, who was killed in action during the close of World War II in 1945. Later, she married Carl Swenson (Lt. Col., USAF, Ret.) in March of 1948 in HarborBeach. He preceded her in death in 1993. The couple lived most of their life in the Detroit area where she was active as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and a competitive member of the Selfridge Women`s Golf League. Margaret was also an avid game and card player, bowler, and was a MasterBridge player. In Alpena, she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a vibrant lady with a generous personality who loved life, whether it was a game of Scrabble, playing with her grandchildren or helping her friends at Turning Brook. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched. Surviving are two daughters; Gloria (Lee) Smith of Darien, CT, Karen (Dr. Martin) Cirulis of Alpena, a son; Bob Swenson of Caledonia, MI, six grandchildren; Jason (Sandy) Smith, Meghan (Graham) McPhail, Maija (Matt Gooch) Cirulis, Aleksander Cirulis, 2Lt. Karl Cirulis, Kimberly Swenson, four great-grandchildren; Emmett, Trevor, and Sophia Smith, and Keenan McPhail. Also surviving are two brothers; Leo (Virginia) and Earl (Shirley) Braun, of Port Hope, MI, two sisters-in-law; Lorraine Braun, Wilma Braun, both of Harbor Beach, and a brother-in-law, Robert (Ramona) Tschirhart of Port Hope, MI, and her very special friend; Gerald Arnold of Clinton Township, MI. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mag Tschirhart, sister, Cindy Cardamone, and two brothers; Clarence and Robert Braun. Family and friends will gather on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Ramsey Funeral Home from 6:00-9:00 in the evening. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Fr. Bill Spencer officiating. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer`s Association or Hospice of Michigan.
