Napoleon Edwin “Nap” Brown (90), formally of Harbor Beach, passed away (June 17, 2012) in Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home, Port Huron. (8) Days short of his 91 Birthday. Born on June 25, 1921 in Port Austin, he was the son of the late Norman Sr. “Mac” and Barbara (Englehart) Brown. In the summer of 1938 Nap met the love of his life, Eleanor Woyciechowski. The couple married two years later on October 5, 1940. Nap was a decorated Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army, under General Mark Clark from 1942 to 1945. After the war he was employed by Hercules, Inc. in Harbor Beach and retired after 38 years of service, in 1983. Nap was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and V.F.W. Post 9344 of Harbor Beach. Nap’s hobbies included playing cards with friends and family, gardening and working in his little shop in his back yard. Nap’s special joy was his grandchildren. Nap really missed Eleanor his wife for 69 years. Eleanor passed away in September 2009. “My parents were like two peas in a pod,” said Patricia. “They went everywhere together.” She noted that his strong faith had him looking forward to the next phase. “Grandpa, always cared for everyone and everything,” mentioned Lisa and Stephanie Two of his granddaughters, who was with him around the clock the last days of his life, “He taught us to be respectful of others and how to care for what we had, and “He’s always been there whenever someone needed help." Nap is survived by; One daughter, Patricia and her husband, Larry Brown of St. Clair; 6 grandchildren; Lisa and her husband, Jim Moore, of Port Huron, David and his wife, Kim Brown, of Marine City, John Brown and Jenny of Port Huron, Marybeth and her husband, Robb Sibert, of Huntington Indiana, Stephanie Foley of Halifax Nova Scotia and Robert Foley, of Wabash Indiana; (7) great-grandchildren; Taylor and Jill Brown, Morgan and Logan Sibert, Taylor and Jessica Foley, Joshua Brown, and many Nieces and Nephews. Nap was preceded in death by 4 children, Gerald, Doreen, Steven and Joyce. Three brothers: Lee, Norman Jr., and Charles Brown. Four sisters: Mary Brown, June Morley, Gloria Shine and Eva Morley. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, with Fr. William Spencer officiating. Military burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation for Nap will be Wednesday from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Thursday will be in the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am A parish vigil service will be Wednesday at 7 pm in the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the OLLH Church and the Harbor Beach Fire Department
