Salim E. Kabban

Salim Elias Kabban, a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Harbor Beach, Michigan, at the age of 77. He returned home to the Lord — and to his parents, Elias and Helenah (Farhat) Kabban — after a life defined by his faith, his hard work, and the quiet strength that guided everything he did. Salim was born on October 10, 1947, in Jaffa, Palestine. Not long after, his family was displaced and resettled in Ramallah, which he called home until his last days. He was raised in a Christian household shaped by hospitality, faith, and resilience — values he lived by and passed on. In 1970, he came to the United States to build a better life. He made being an immigrant look easy, and carried that burden quietly while continuing to work for his family, right through the end. By 1978, he had made Harbor Beach home, where he and his brothers, together, operated the family grocery store, Foodtown --- a staple in the community --- and one of the ways he touched so many lives. He was married to Lily (Natour) Kabban for nearly 50 years. Together they raised three children: Elias (Michele), Rana (Jimmy) Issa, and Michael (Danielle). Their lives were his proudest accomplishment. That, to him, was success. A life well lived. In his eyes, he won the game. His greatest joy was being “Seedo” to his grandchildren: Michael Jr., Isaiah, Andrew, Jenna, Isabella, Alexander, and Abigail. To them, he passed down a way of life — dignity, love, and hard work, all given through his stories and the way he lived. In his final years, he became more reverent. His presence, even in reserve, was always deeply felt. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Mary Parish, Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, in Harbor Beach, with Father Kevin Wojciechowski officiating. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Holy Name of Mary Parish, OLLH Cemetery. A Mercy Meal will follow at Infinity Event Center in Caseville. Visitation will also take place on Friday, April 25th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School — a place he was proud to send his children, and one that reflected the values he held close.
