Agnes T. Sopczynski

January 18, 1921 - February 4, 2022

Agnes T. Sopczynski, age 101 of Harbor Beach, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on January 18, 1921 in Harbor Beach, to the late William and Frances (Smaglinski) Koss. Agnes and Stanley Sopczynski were united in marriage on December 7, 1953 in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2006. Agnes was a homemaker and had many jobs, including running the Hi Lo Forklift at the Huron Milling Company during World War II, and worked at the Shamrock Restaurant, where she met her husband, Stanley. When she was 16, she even got to ride in an open cockpit Bi-Plane. Agnes was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a woman of faith and put all her trust in God. She enjoyed cooking, playing euchre and rummy, dancing, reminiscing through old photos, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Larry (Jan) Sopczynski of Bay City, Mike (Cindy) Sopczynski of Harbor Beach, Pat (Sharon) Sopczynski of Bridgeport, Jim (Deb) Sopczynski of Deckerville, Sandy (Dave) Saunders of Midland, Joe (Ann) Sopczynski of Harbor Beach, Stan Sopczynski of Port Hope, Linda Eggert of Lansing, 25 grandchildren , 54 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Susan Sopczynski of Indiana, and Carol Sopczynski of Harbor Beach, and many nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her sons: Robert (Ann) Sopczynski, Rod Sopczynski, grandchildren: Matthew and Andrew Sopczynski, Bobby Sopczynski, great grandchild Kenny Hempel, her brothers: Peter, Edward, William and Theophilis Koss, and sisters: Gertrude Meyer, Helen Tebo, and Mary Martin. Funeral Mass for Agnes will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, of the Holy Name of Mary Parish, with Fr. George Amos officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Agnes will be on Tuesday, from 2-8 pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com
