Alan "Ponch" Pankow

ALAN “PONCH” PANKOW, age 74 of Port Hope, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center of Saginaw. He was born on February 3, 1944 in Harbor Beach to the late Milton and Ann (Scheoch) Pankow. He and Darla Sengstock were united in marriage on September 24,1977 in Port Hope. Ponch worked for Tony Angelo Cement Construction for 35 years, retiring in 2008. Ponch was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Hope, where he was an usher and Trustee. He was a member of the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsmen Club, served on the Zoning Board in Port Hope. He was on the Harbor Beach Fire Department for 21 years, and the Eastern Huron Ambulance Service for 28 years. He is survived by his wife Darla Pankow of Port Hope, and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Arthur (Betty) Sengstock of Canyon Lake, TX, Brenda (Laverne) Friedland of Port Hope, Joyce (Larry) Harwood of Port Hope, Elaine (Roy) Reinke of Port Hope, Lola (Bob) Smith of Warren, Deanna (Dan) May of Port Hope, Daryl (Kim) Sengstock of Port Hope, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ponch will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Falls Cemetery of Harbor Beach. Visitation will be on Friday, May 4, 2018, 4-8pm, at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Memorials may be given to St. John Stained Glass Windows or Eastern Huron Ambulance Service.
