Darwin "Dodie" Miller

September 11, 1952 - May 7, 2017

Miller, Darwin “ Dodie” Port Hope, Michigan Loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Dodie was born on September 11, 1952 in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He married Rosemarie Koglin, his loving wife of 46 years, on September 12, 1970. Dodie worked at Active Industries/Tower Automotive for 23 years and then for Stone Transport for 8 years. He was a lifelong farmer and worked also for his neighbor, Tom Smaglinski. Dodie enjoyed life, going on casino trips, fishing, hunting, shooting trap and skeet, riding motorcycles, cutting wood and grass, farming. Dodie was always the first to offer a helping hand to friends and neighbors whenever they needed help. He was a member of the Grindstone/Port Hope Sportsman Club for 40 years, the Upper Thumb Traveling Trap League for more than 30 years and also a member of the Harbor Beach Gun Club for 10 years. Surviving besides his wife Rose are one son, Jeff and Janet Miller, Bad Axe; a grandson, Matthew Reinke and his fiancée Nicole Carey, Mt. Pleasant; his siblings, Eugene and Lola Miller, Romeo; Eunice Plester, Harbor Beach; Charles (Terry) and Patsy Miller, Port Hope; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Dodie was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Miller, his uncle, Edwin Hartz and a brother-in-law, Harold Plester. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Pastor Dave Wandrie will officiate with burial to follow in Lake View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Harbor Beach Gun Club. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home of Saginaw, Michigan.
