Delbert Leo Collison

DELBERT LEO COLLISON, age 90 of Port Hope, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. He was born on April 1, 1923 in Port Hope to the late William and Bertha (Finkel) Collison. Delbert and Alma Feldt were united in marriage on September 21, 1946 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on January 17, 1991. Delbert worked for the GM Plant Security, before retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. Delbert then married Dora Pleiness on August 22, 1992 in Port Hope. Delbert is a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope and the our Savior Lutheran Church in Zephrhills, Florida. He was also a member of the Port Hope Retirees, the Harbor Beach Retirees and the Kinde Retirees. He enjoyed canning and playing cards. He is survived by his wife Dora Collison of Port Hope, 2 daughters: Linda Jehle and her husband Robert of Clay Township, and Sandra Coppo of Southgate, Step-Children: Herman and Marilyn Pleiness of Brighton, Richard and Mary Jane Pleiness of Davison, Rodney and Sheri Pleiness of Brighton, Carol and Jim Hunter of Port Hope, and Leroy Pleiness of Port Hope, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, Brother Herbie & Mae Collison of Port Hope, and special friend Bryce Schave. Delbert was preceded in death by a son-in-law Jim Coppo and brother Irvin Collison. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory of Bay City. Funeral Services for Delbert will be Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church of Port Hope, with Rev. Greg Eilers officiating. Internment will be in the Marquardt Cemetery. Gathering of friends will begin at 10 am at the church until time of services at 11 am.
