Joan K. Sommers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joan K. Sommers, 66, of Cheyenne, WY passed away Wednesday December 13, 2017 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne after a short illness. Joan was born September 27, 1951 in Harbor Beach, MI. She was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Cecelia Siemen. Joan and Richard I. Sommers were united in marriage on October 25, 1969. Together they had for 4 children. Joan was a NAF employee for the Air Force as the club manager. She worked for the Air Force until her retirement in 2000 after 23 yrs. She loved spending time with her husband, grandchildren, pets and before her stroke in June 2011 gardening. Joan is survived by her husband Richard. 3 sons Joseph (Kelly) Sommers, Roy (Melissa) Sommers both of Cheyenne. James (Cara) Sommers of Escanaba, MI. One daughter Jennifer Roy-Smith (Eric) of Pine Bluffs, WY. 7 granddaughters, Erica Sommers of Green Bay, WI. Kathryn (Brenden) Keys, Amanda Jeffery, Kymberely Sommers all of Cheyenne, WY. Allison Sommers of Escanaba, MI., Emily and Christina Roy of Houlton ME. 1 grandson Gavin Sommers of Escanaba, MI. and 1 great grandson. Kaiden of Cheyenne, WY. 2 sisters Gail (Alvin) Koehn, Linda (John) Roggenbuck, 1 brother Roland (Linda) Siemen all of Harbor Beach, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Merle. Cremation took place at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel, Chapel of Chimes, 1900 E. 19th St., Cheyenne WY. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may contribute to National Stroke Association in her name.
