Margaret Hessling

May 12, 1934 - May 6, 2022

Margaret Hessling, age 87 of Livonia, passed away on May 6, 2022, at her home. Margaret was born in Harbor Beach, to the late Walter and Mary (Lacey) Nitz. She was the oldest of five children and was raised on a farm spending many hours helping her father tend crops and care for animals. She attended the one-room Swayze Grade School and went on to graduate from Our Lady of Lake Huron High School in Harbor Beach. Margaret met Clarence Hessling at a local dance and they were married in October 1954. They lived in Ruth for a short time and then oved to Redford where they raised their four children. Later they purchased a home in Livonia. Margaret's work career begas as secretary for Judge Art Bach and James M. Umphrey, P.C., Bad Axe. She later worked at Pennsylvania Steel in Redford and H & R Block. She volunteered for Right to Life- Lifespan, Livonia. Margaret was a devoted mother, wife, friend, and coworker. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was generous, very intelligent and kind. She loved listening to polka music, working on crossword puzzles and crocheting, especially crocheting decorative edges on greeting cards. Margaret is survived by her daughters: Barbara Hazelton (John Johnson), Connie (William "Milt") Harper, her son: Bruce (Maryann) Hessling, five grandsons: Nathan, Alex (Bretta) and Brendan Hessling, and Evan and Seth Harper, siblings: Marian (Leo) O'Parka, Marie Nitz, Marilyn Stacer and Marvin Nitz; many loving nieces and nephews, great nices and nephews; Sister-in-law Audrey (Kenneth) Wolschlager and Brother-in-law Dan Guigar. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, son Stephen, son-in-law Bruce Hazelton, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Funeral Mass for Margaret will be on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, of the Holy Name of Mary Parish. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Church Cemetery in Ruth. Visitation for Margaret will be at the church, on Saturday, from 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Right to Life - Lifespan, 32540 Schoolcraft Rd, Livonia 48150, OLLH School, Henry Ford Hospice, or to the charity of your choice.
