Barbara A. Ruhl

Barbara A. Ruhl, 92, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her children, Friday, January 24, 2025. She was a resident of Courtney Manor. She sadly suffered from dementia, which robbed her of precious time and memories with family and friends. Barbara was born on December 18, 1932 to Keith and Bertha Melick at their home in Harbor Beach. She was an only child and the apple of her father's eye. She graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1950. While in high school, she met her husband Bud. They married on October 6, 1951. Bud and Barb had 64 years together before his passing in February of 2016. They began a family and had four children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them. Barb worked 29 years at Harbor Beach Community Hospital as a nurses aide before retiring in 1988. She loved her job and made a lot of great friends over the years. She was always very caring and many patients still remembered her years later. After retirement, she spent her time doing the things she loved most: bowling, flower gardening, camping, lots of crossword puzzles, crocheting blankets for all the kids and grandchildren, and her most favorite thing of all was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She loved keeping up with their sports, playing a mean game of Scrabble, and her most favorite thing: baking. She loved baking with the kids and always had a full cookie jar for everyone's sweet tooth. Her heart was full when the kids came around. Barb loved country life, and over the years had many pets. Each one had a special place in her heart and she always had a funny tale or two to tell about them. She always had a love of music her entire life. Whether is was singing in school, or Church Choir, or playing her organ and singing at home, music was always heard. Barb leaves behind her children: Linda (Keith) Weldon, Kathy (Chuck) Currie, Brian (Julie) Ruhl, and Lisa (James) Lewis, all of Harbor Beach. Also missing her are her grandchildren: Matthew (Janice) Henry, Bill (Jennifer) Currie, Kyle (Renee) Currie, Kayla (Kevin) Harwood, Matt Luttenberger (Special friend Vanessa), Jenny (Glenn) Cook, Rachel (Allen) Glaza, Ryker (Alicia) Lewis, Noel Lewis (Special friend Tyler), AJ Lewis, Devin Lewis, twenty one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved this incredible woman. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11 am, at the United Methodist Church of Harbor Beach, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Internment will follow at Rock Falls Cemetery. Friends may gather at the church, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, or to the Harbor Beach Lighthouse Preservation Society.
