Catherine Essenmacher

CATHERINE ESSENMACHER, age 89 of Harbor Beach, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1928 to the late Clarence & Margaret (Weber) Messing. Catherine and Howard Essenmacher were united in marriage on September 3, 1947 in Ruth. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2003. Catherine was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society for many years. Her hobbies were sewing and quilting. She made over 200 quilts and 800 weaved rugs. She loved listening and dancing to polka music, she even taught herself to play the piano and accordion. She loved playing cards and was involved in many euchre clubs over the years. She had a love of flowers with a talent for arranging the perfect bouquet. Her cooking and baking were second to none, and no one ever left her house hungry. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, never forgetting a birthday. She is survived by her children: Ernest (Debbie) Essenamcher of Minden City, Jane (Gary) Suida of Harbor Beach, Leo Essenmacher of Harbor Beach, Monica Booms of Harbor Beach, Barbara (Fred) Andrich if Bad Axe, Mary (Bernie) Sweeney of Harbor Beach, Colette (Mark) Neumann of Zeeland, Julie (Brian) Ruhl of Harbor Beach, 33 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 12 great step grandchildren, her brothers: Joseph (Marion) Messing, Arnold Messing, Robert (Judy) Messing, and her brother and sisters-in-law: Verna Wood, David Krueger, Janice Erdman and Joyce Messing. Catherine was preceded in death by an infant son Joseph, great grandson Samuel Sweeney, son-in-law Mark Booms, brother Michael Messing, sisters: Marie Messing and Lucy Boggs, brother-in-law: David Boggs, sister-in-law Mary Messing, David (Marian) Essenmacher, Arthur (Agnes) Essenmacher, Donald Essenmacher, Burton Wood, Bernard (Eleanor) Geiger, and Edna Krueger. Funeral mass for Catherine will be Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, of the Holy Name of Mary Parish, with Fr. George Amos officiating. Burial will follow in the OLLH church cemetery. Visitation for Catherine will be on Sunday, from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Monday will be at the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. A Parish Vigil Service will take place on Sunday at 7pm at the funeral home.
