Herbert Fred Murawske

HERBERT FRED MURAWSKE, age 86 of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at his home under hospice care with his family at his side. He was born on September 29, 1924 in Harbor Beach, to the late John and Mary (Gehrt) Murawske. Herb and Marjorie Essenmacher were united in marriage on April 10, 1947 in Harbor Beach. Herb served in the US Army during World War II, serving as a combat medic in Omaha Beach. He worked for Wagner Ready Mix for thirty years. He retired from Serles in 1986. Herb was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, where he was an usher and Eucharistic minister, a member of the American Legion Post 197 of Harbor Beach, and the VFW Post of Harbor Beach, he enjoyed to gamble, garden and cards with his family and friends. `He was the kind of person who didn`t just talk about values - he lived them, and he was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. He made a difference in our family just by being himself.` He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-four years,Marjorie of Harbor Beach, and their children: Patricia Weber of Phoenix, AZ, Pamela Woodke and her husband Dale of Port Hope, Duane Murawske and his wife Cheri of Essexville, Mary York and her husband Randy of Fenton, Rick Murawske and his wife Lori of Harbor Beach, Craig Murawske and his wife Lisa of Harbor Beach, Jim Murawske and his wife Karen of Boston, MA, and Sue Schelke and her husband Troy of Harbor Beach. His grandchildren: Duane (Gina) Weber, Elizabeth Weber, Michael (Sheila) Woodke, Jenny (Sean) Trudeau, Angie (Jason) Geiger, Cory Murawske, Ryan York, Jessica (Dave) Mausolf, Jacob Murawske, Daniel Murawske Sean Murawske, Jonathan Murawske, Heather Murawske, Josh schelke, Jimmy Schelke and Rachael Schelke. Twelve great grandchildren: Shay & Cole, Evan & Emily, Carter, Nathan and Max, Chase and Zoe, Ansley, Chloe and Keaton, and his sister Betty Gempel of Mt. Pleasant. Herb was preceded in death by a son-in-law Rick Weber. Funeral Mass for Herb will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11 am in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with Fr. William Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in OLLH Church Cemetery. Visitation for Herb will be Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 1-4, 6-9pm in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11am. A Parish Vigil Service will take place Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the OLLH School.
