John Tenbusch Jr.

John Tenbusch Jr., 82 of Minden City, MI passed away Saturday, December 21st. Despite his many years of health complications, he fought until the very end. Proud Brother, Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he cherished his family above all else. A lifetime servant of the community as a farmer, church usher, lector, parish council member and founder of Tenbusch TV and Appliance in Minden City, he touched many lives. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, fan of all sports, especially the Detroit Tigers as he enjoyed watching “basic” baseball, and drove red tractors. Married in 1968 to the love of his life, Katherine Ann (Mausolf) of Helena his passions revolved around his family as he prioritized attending dozens of events every year from little league, baseball/softball, football, basketball, dance and school events to support his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, bowling, playing euchre, listening and dancing to polka music, going to the casino, being a softball pitcher and attending various softball tournaments throughout the thumb area. He was a proud father of 10 children and welcomed his famed ‘out-laws’ with open arms. John is survived by his wife Katherine Tenbusch of Minden City, children: Lisa (Mike) Geiger of Harbor Beach, Lori (Brian) Lewis of Cedar Park, Texas, John (Amy) Tenbusch of Morrow, Ohio, Daniel (Hillary) Tenbusch of Midland, Steven (Darcy) Tenbusch of Unionville, Matthew (Trisha) Tenbusch of Hartland, Jared (Jessica) Tenbusch of Ruth, Kristin (Kenny) Emming of Ruth, Keri (Trevor) Smalley of Bad Axe, Connie (Michael) Meissner of Minden City, 36 grandchildren: Jessica (Tom) McConnachie, Derek (Jodi) Geiger, David (Taryn) Geiger, Jacilyn (Joseph) Braun, Julie Geiger, Ashley and Brandon Lewis, Julia, John M. and Kaitlyn Tenbusch, Justin (Stephanie), Joel and Jude (Hannah) Tenbusch, Jason Tenbusch, Kameron Schlund, Madalyn, Rylan and Klara Tenbusch, Jack, Abigail and Grace Tenbusch, Olivia, Avery, Emma, Amelia and Isaac Tenbusch, Eli, Kenny Jr. and Henry Emming, Olivia, Lincoln and Stella Smalley, Michael, Noah, Jacob and Elyse Meissner, 10 great grandchildren: Collin, Brayden, Logan, Adalynn and Lillian McConnachie, Andrew, Elmer and McKenna Geiger, Annalise Geiger, Emerson and an expected Braun great grandchild due in February, three Sisters: Bonnie (Larry) Siemen of Harbor Beach, Mary Ann (Charles) Stacer of Ruth, Janie (Doug) Paull of Clio, brothers and sisters-in-law: Rosalee Clor (special friend Stan), Joseph (June) Mausolf, Marilyn (Don) Klee, Linda Mausolf, Elizabeth Mausolf, Margaret (Tom) Callendar, Jerry (Bonnie) Mausolf, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by infant grandson Andrew Tenbusch, parents John B. and Rose (Schmitz) Tenbusch, an infant brother, three infant sisters, parents in-law Earl and Frances (LaMielle) Mausolf, in-laws: Ron Clor, James Mausolf, John Mausolf and Juli Mausolf. Funeral Mass for John Tenbusch will take place Monday, December 30, 2024 at Ruth Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, of the Holy Apostles Parish, with Fr. Sunil Spallela officiating. Burial will take place at SSPP Church Cemetery in the spring. Visitation for John will be on Sunday, from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Monday will be at the church, beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. The Usher’s Club will lead a rosary service on Sunday, at 6 pm at the funeral home.
