Marie C. Tenbusch

Marie Cecilia Tenbusch, age 89 of Bad Axe, passed away to go home to our Heavenly Father after a long illness at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. She was born on the family farm near Parisville on February 3, 1937, daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Wrubel) Dekoski. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Grace Public and St. Mary Catholic grade schools in Parisville. She went on to graduate from the Ubly High School. She married the love of her life Robert Tenbusch, on June 22, 1957 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. They shared much love and life in the 63 years of marriage working side by side along with their children on their farms near Verona and Rapson. Marie was very involved in supporting her husband and sons in their musical pursuits of leading a polka/dance band for many years. Her polish heritage and music was very important to her, and she enjoyed teaching countless people, both you and old to dance to polka music. A favorite activity was to listen to the weekend polka shows on the radio and television, and in her younger years attending as many polka dances and festivals as she could. She was a dedicated, hard working farm wife and loving mother, making sure to set the example of hard work to her children by tilling the fields, picking stones, hoeing weeds from the crops, driving truck, and doing whatever chores needed to be done around the farm. One of her top priorities was making sure her children all had the opportunity to pursue learning and playing several musical instruments of their choosing, driving them to music lessons and encouraging daily practice time. Marie was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church ( St. Joseph Church) . Her faith was especially important to her as she faithfully participated at Mass each Sunday and during the week and had a special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima by praying the rosary every day, always remembering offering those many prayers for all who were in need of prayer. Another top priority was nurturing and encouraging her family to grow in their gift of faith. She was a member of the St. Mary Rosary Sodality, past member of the St. Mary and St. Joseph Choirs, St. Anne Mothers Study Club, Scripture Study group, and the Daughters of Isabella. Baking and sharing her famous German Chocolate Cake and apple pie gave her great joy, as did cooking her tasty meatballs and holiday meals for the entire family. She had an immense love for her entire family and especially treasured time spent together with her sons, daughters and their families, as well as her siblings, friends and neighbors. Marie is survived by her children: Wally (Joy) Tenbusch of Bad Axe, Doug (Karen) Tenbusch of Deford, Celine Richards (Special Friend Marty Brunner) of Bay City, and MaryJo (Bryan) Chisholm of Rockford. Grandchildren: Jamie (Chris) Pfeffer, Ryan (Keri) Tenbusch, Curt (Emily) Tenbusch, Kelli (Pete) Messing, Jennifer (Jeremy) Kilbourne, Jessica (Chris) Hahn, Randy (Christin) Tenbusch, Jeff (Danielle) Tenbusch, Hailey Richards (Fiance Ben Reed), Taylor Richards (Special Friend Drew O'Neill) Eric (Kelsey) Chisholm, Alexis (Keegan) Nason, 21 great grandchildren with number 22 due in August, sisters: Shirley Wulbrecht, Rose (Carl) Messing, brother Terry (Debbie) Dekoski, sister-in-law Pat Dekoski, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, infants Joseph and Mary Tenbusch, Parents: Edward and Bertha Dekoski, father and mother-in-law Clarence and Helen (Gruber) Tenbusch, brother Kenneth Dekoski, sister Gladys Horvet, brother-in-law Mar Tenbusch, and sister-in-law Beatrice Oswald. Visitation will take place at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach, on Monday May 25, from 2-8pm. A scripture rosary will take palce at 4:30 pm, and a Wake Vigil Service will be conducted at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson (St. Hubert Parish), with Visitation from 10 am until time of services at 11 am. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the committal service that will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and other funeral mementos, donations may be made in the form of Mass offering in her memory, or donations to her family that will go to support her favorite catholic charities.
