Melvin Leo Kranz

Melvin Kranz age 81 of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of Harbor Beach Community Hospital under United Hospice Care. He was born to the late William and Anna (Klug) Kranz on October 16, 1926 in Harbor Beach. Melvin married Dolores Ulfig, November 17, 1951, at Camp McCoy Wise Chapel, they celebrated 56 years of Marriage this past November. Melvin served in the U.S. Army in Camp McCoy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed farming with his wife and family very much. He was sexton of the OLLH Church Cemetery and was employed by Hercules. Melvin`s hobbies included playing cards with friends and family, gardening, and four wheeling. His special joy was his grandchildren. Melvin is survived by his wife Dolores of Harbor Beach, and his children; Carolyn Uhl and her husband John of Minden City, William Kranz Sr. and his wife Carol of Warren, Linda Harbin and her husband Michael of Harbor Beach, and Denise Volmering and her husband James of Phoenix AZ. 13 grandchildren; Lee Harbin of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lisa Burkhard of Toledo, OH, Cpl. Robert Uhl, of the Marines, in Virginia, Sgt. Joseph Uhl of the Marines in Sand Diego, CA, Justin, Nathan and Brooke Volmering of Phoenix, AZ, William Jr., Kevin and Jennifer Kranz of Dearborn Heights, Mike Burke, Pam Murray, and Christine Streidl, 5 great Grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. 1 sister; Lorraine (Joseph) Holdwick of Ruth, 2 brothers; Wilfred Kranz of Robertsdale, AL, and Lawrence Kranz of Harbor Beach, and Florida, Brother-in-law LaVern Ulfig of Livionia, Sister-in-law Judith Heiden of Minden City, Many nieces and nephews and 6 God Children. Funeral Mass for Melvin is Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11 am in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach, Fr. Bill Spencer officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Melvin will be on Friday, from 1-9pm in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach, and in the church on Saturday beginning at 10am until time of services at 11 am. A parish Vigil service will take place Friday evening at 7:30 in the funeral home. Military Honors will be given in Melvin`s honor.
